Israel (Cellcom) Prepaid SIM Instructions Please be sure to read these instructions prior to arriving in Israel. If you're consulting your phone's user guide, please defer to the instructions below with regard to the use of your Israel SIM card. (Phone manuals are written in general terms.) Requirements:A GSM cellular phone with no service-provider lock. If you are unsure whether your phone is locked or not, test it with a SIM card from a service provider other than your own. (If the phone is locked, you will see an error message when you turn on the phone or a message prompting you to enter a subsidy code.) The phone must be capable of functioning in the 1800 MHz GSM bands. (More bands are ok.) Features: Unlimited FREE incoming calls Low rates within Israel, as low as app. $0.16 per minute International calls to the US and Europe as low as app. $0.28 per minute An Israeli Cellcom SIM card and cellular phone number Complete with FREE airtime worth 60 NIS (new Israeli shekels) Easy to add more talk time Calls charged at 12 second increments Voicemail No yearly contract, monthly charges or credit check Your Phone Number:Your Israel cell phone number is located on a label on the envelope containing your Cellcom SIM card. The 10-digit phone number begins "052-xxxxxx." The zero at the beginning is only used for dialing within Israel. Dialing informationIn order to call to your Israel cell phone number from the USA, the correct sequence is 011-972, then the Israel cell phone number including the area code (ex. 011-972-52-123-1234). Please be sure to inform anyone who has your Israeli cell phone number as to the proper dialing sequence in order to insure you receive your calls. IMPORTANT: To call from Israel back to the US, you must first dial one of the Israeli international call companies (Barak 013, Bezek 014 or Zahav 012) then 1 (the country code) and then the area code and phone number (ex. 013-1-212-555-1212). Keep this in mind when programming phone numbers into your address book. To dial a number within Israel, dial the area code and phone number.NOTE: You must have at least 51 Shekels of airtime in order to initiate an international call Here is a list of useful area codes in Israel Jerusalem: 02 Tel Aviv and vicinity (including Rishon Letzion): 03 Herzliya, Kfar-Saba, Ra'anana and Netanya: 09 Haifa and the north: 04 Rehovot, Beer Sheba and the south (including Eilat): 08 Installing the SIM chip: It's a good idea to install the SIM chip (for testing purposes) before you leave on your trip, even though you will not be able to make phone calls until you arrive at your overseas destination. Be sure that your phone is fully charged. Snap out the Israel SIM chip from the SIM card/chip holder and insert the chip into your GSM Phone with the metal portion facing down as to make contact with the contact prongs. (You will usually find your phone's SIM tray underneath the battery of your GSM cell phone). PIN-check has been turned off by default, but hang onto your PIN and PUK info provided in the packaging. This may be necessary at a later time. Note: After installing the SIM chip, you'll be able to add numbers to your address book, but you will not be able to make a call until you're in Israel. Activating Your Service: Go to Israel Turn on your phone. (Be sure that battery is charged) You may start calling To active voicemail call *778<send> (this is a free call) Changing language to English: For assistance changing the voice menus into English, call customer service at *778<send> (this is a free call) Recharging Your SIM Card:Additional TALKMAN™ cards may be purchased in denominations of 50, 75, 125 and 200 NIS at cellular stores, convenience stores and the post office. Even if you have zero credit, since incoming calls are always free, you will still be able to receive calls. Once you have purchased a recharge card, simply follow these easy instructions: • Scratch off the scratch-off area to expose the 10 digit PIN • Dial *777, (this is a free call) from your mobile phone anytime • Follow the voice instructions to enter your PIN number. • For assistance finding locations selling TALKMAN cards, call customer service.
